For a while I was employed
by a Defense Contractor (SAIC) where I designed graphical interfaces
and display programs for interceptor constellation data for the
Strategic Defense Initiative (SDIO).
The instability of Defense work prompted me to branch out on my
own in 1993. From then until 1999 I was employed in the Telecommunications
Industry where, among many other things, I designed and managed
PC-based Voice Response Systems used in debit card platforms and
managed digital telephone switches.
My career took a turn
in 1997 when I began a web design as a favor for a friend. One thing
lead to another and within 18 months I was designing web sites full
time. I work out of my home as a one-person show. My strengths are
perhaps my programming skills and my ability to learn things quickly.
I know and utilize JavaScript,
ASP, VBScript, PHP, Complex database design, Database interfacing,
Database management, Flash, CSS, dhtml, Plone, AJAX, graphic design and search
engine optimization, when necessary. I also understand aesthetics
and the rules of good visual design.
I am available to do technical writing, editing and electronic publication
(pdf).
